History

Survivor Technologies began operations in 1954 under the name KD Jalousie in Elizabeth, New Jersey. They manufactured replacement windows, awning windows, storm doors and porch enclosures.  In 1981 KD sought a new home and landed in its present location of 1441 Chestnut Avenue in Hillside, New Jersey.

In 1988, Allied Building products purchased KD Jalousie.  Vinylaire wanted to make technological advances and moved to welding the windows together with vinyl.  Allied then renamed the company “Vinylaire’.  Beginning in late 1991 it introduced the 7000 series windows, which were four pieces of vinyl fully welded.  During this time period Vinylaire management broadened its product line to include new construction and patio door lines and to improve its present replacement products.  With a broadened product line up and better-manufactured window, Vinylaire started to attract bigger distributors. Vinylaire then began to grow in leaps and bounds.
In that same year (1996) Jannock Vinyl Group, of Canada, purchased Vinylaire and renamed it Survivor Technologies Inc. Three years later there was the final change of ownership to Jancor Companies – we became a division of Jancor.

In ten years it leaped from a thirteen million dollar company to a seventy million dollar company. In 2000 Consumer Reports rated our 5500 double-hung window the second best vinyl window for the price and the eighth best overall double hung window.
In 2003 Survivor was replaced in the Lowe’s home center by Pella as the stocking distributor.  Survivor Technologies Inc. now sells Lowe’s their custom windows only.  It has rebounded from the drop in Lowe’s business by adding five (5) major customers as well as several strong smaller distributors over the past four (4) years.

Many steps are in place to continue this growth.  We have added an “on-line” order entry system, a new 2300/2400 inexpensive Single Hung and Double Hung new construction windows, a DP-50 3500 Series New Construction product (an improvement to our old 2500 series product), triple pane glass and cream extrusions for our upper end Replacement product, an improved Casement lineup and most recently we have added a new Replacement window (from our sister company – Kensington) that gives us a complete lineup of DP-50 replacement windows and wood grains.  Also we now offer a complete lineup of Patio Doors including French and Swing doors.

Our mission is to be the preferred provider of well made-cost effective vinyl windows to the customers.  To do this we use stringent product development and testing.  We build our products for durability, performance and quality.

Survivor Window and Door System products are the preferred choice for the building professional.
